"I'm glad CRONM is here and there is now a group looking out for the taxpayers."
-----Michael Herman, N.M. Resident and NYC teacher.
CONCERNED RESIDENTS OF NORTH MERRICK, INC. OR "CRONM" is a neighborhood grass roots organization created to be a watchdog for the North Merrick taxpayer and our children. Our main goals are:
Increase voter participation from less than 10% to 20% at the next Board election.
Ensure that our Board of Education remains a reflection of the North Merrick Taxpayer and our children. "To represent the many and not the few."
Ensure that our Board of Education allocates our taxes responsibly and for the benefit of our children and their education.
Provide a platform where North Merrick Residents can receive information on what is happening at the Board of Education, receive information on meeting agendas, minutes, initiatives, and provide information on how current Board policies impact our North Merrick schools, children and how our tax dollars are being spent by the District.
Endorse Board of Education trustees who prioritize education and the needs of our children and residents above special interests and personal agendas.
Please visit our info tabs to see what happened at the last Board meeting and get up to date information on what is happening at our Board of Education and District.
NEXT BOARD MEETING IS May 14, 2019 AT 8:00 P.M. AT FAYETTE GPR ROOM. There will be Public Works Session starting at 7:15 p.m. See event tabs for more information.
CRONM wants our Board of Education to serve only the North Merrick Residents interests.
North Merrick has almost 12,000 registered voters but fewer than 1,200 voted in the last school board election.
Low voter turnout makes it easier for special interest groups to call the shots on election day.
